Many firms are permitting work from home; or a better way to describe this is work from anywhere. Productivity rules are rewriting global modern business offerings, and workforces are now scattered all over the world; and true productivity could become arguable as well. We will leave that for another day. Work environments have replaced traditional offices, with bedrooms, living rooms, hot tubs, and even while sitting on a beach chair in foot deep water in Lake Huron; I have done that! Technology has created levels of workforce adaptability depending on the business you are in. Workforce adaptability only limited by the imagination, and by continued technological advances insures this will keep happening.

Having workplace and home connectivity is creating a new kind of workaholic.

The traditional workday of 8 to 10 hours is resulting in a reality of a 24/7 commitment, regardless if we realize it’s happening or not! We respond to e-mails, voice mails, or simply answer our company issued cell phone on what was once perceived to be our own time. We become stuck in the on-the-job moment.

24/7 workplace dedication in the past traditionally fell in the laps of business owners and their families.

Today, the telecommuter of the 21st century with no geographic boundaries are acting like owners as well, and productivity has no rules. Workforce connectivity is here to stay… and perhaps acting like owners is the right strategy as well. Because when you measure productivity by a paid eight-hour day earned over 24/7, the results will be impressive. Clearly, Pandora’s Box has been open; and the traditional work environment no longer exists!

Today, it’s difficult to draw a line between work and personal; our days are long and interconnected. Creativity is fueled by being in both places as once
